The history of NAVES
Since the beginning of human history, ships, or naves in Latin, have embodied the longing for faraway places, adventure, freedom and discovery. The front of the shirt depicts ship types from the Renaissance era. In the upper part, a galleasse and a galley, both typical representatives of the Mediterranean states, and in the lower part, a carrack and a nao as the most important explorer ships of the Spanish and Portuguese. The back of the shirt features a sailing ship's bow with a galion and a lion as a figurehead. For the sleeves, bow and stern views of sailing ships were drawn in shades of brown. The Chemnitz-based illustrator Steffen Kraushaar painted all the images on the shirt on wood. NAVES will appeal particularly to lovers of seafaring and world history.
