GERMENS Care tips
Washing preparation of GERMENS shirts and blouses
GERMENS long-sleeved shirts have removable metal collar stays, which are made of stainless steel and are waterproof. However, they should be removed before washing as they can cause damage in the washing drum.
It is advisable to undo all buttons, including those on the cuffs and armholes. This makes it easier to iron afterwards. It is easier to open the buttons on a dry shirt or blouse than on a damp garment.
The buttons are all sewn on with a handle, making them particularly easy to open. When machine washing, the collar button should be closed and the collar folded upwards to prevent dirt marks in the creases.
Cleaning in the washing machine
It is best to only wash button-up shirts, blouses or T-shirts together. Do not wash other textiles such as pants or jackets with metal parts together with the GERMENS shirts, blouses or T-shirts to avoid damage. Ideally, 7 to 9 items should be washed at 30° to 40° Celsius, which achieves the best washing results.
This means that the washing machine is only about half full. Ideally, the garments should be placed in a pillowcase to prevent friction with the washing drum and possible damage to collars and cuffs.
Hand wash
When hand washing, light, dark and colored GERMENS garments can be washed together. The water should be lukewarm and not exceed a temperature of 30 to a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius.
Stubborn stains are best removed with gall soap. Lightly moisten the affected areas, rub them with gall soap and then wash the entire shirt.
The right washing powder
Light, dark or colored GERMENS button-up shirts, shirts or blouses can be washed together. It is important to use a color detergent.
Under no circumstances should a heavy-duty detergent or other detergent with optical brighteners or detergents containing chlorine or bleach be used, as this can bleach the colors.
Please use detergent sparingly, as shirts and blouses are not usually very dirty.
Drying GERMENS shirts and blouses
Quickly remove the damp GERMENS button-up shirts, blouses and T-shirts from the washing machine and hang them up immediately. Shake out the garment vigorously, hang it on a hanger and allow it to air dry. Please do not use wooden hangers, as the moisture can cause brownish stains in the shoulder area.
Pull the button placket down briefly to smooth it out slightly, which makes it easier to iron afterwards.
GERMENS button-up shirts, blouses and T-shirts can also be gently tumble dried at a low temperature.
Ironing GERMENS shirts and blouses
It is best to start ironing with the collar and the two sleeve cuffs. Then work on the sleeves, the front and back, the shoulder section and the buttonhole placket.
We recommend using a steam iron.
You will be surprised how easy GERMENS shirts and blouses are to iron. This is due to the high-quality cotton fabric and the special textile finish.
We also recommend ironing GERMENS T-shirts, as this makes them look even more extravagant.
Please only hang completely dry garments in the laundry cupboard.
